Volunteer Animal Carers
We need volunteer animal carers! Without our volunteers we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of animals brought in to us each year. Every day of the year, there are animals that need to be fed, health checked and have their cages cleaned.
You’ll need to volunteer regularly, doing at least one 4-hour shift weekly. You’ll be involved in all aspects of animal care, looking after a wide variety of animals – from mice to tawny owls, and everything in between.
All volunteers must be aged 18 years or over, and able to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment. (work experience through a college or school 16+).
As you might expect, working with wild animals can be dirty work. And animals generate a lot of cages, hutches and feeding bowls that need to be cleaned and disinfected. Every day! Volunteers must be physically fit and able to carry out a variety of tasks both independently or as part of the wider team. Tasks include, but are not limited to, cleaning out cages in the hospital and outdoor enclosures, making animal food, washing dishes, cleaning the hospital and helping with outdoor maintenance of enclosures and the site.
If you are interested in volunteering then please complete the volunteer form via the link below.
*Please note, all volunteers will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and have an up to date tetanus vaccination to volunteer*
We are looking for people to help us with fundraising. This could be helping with stalls at fetes and shows or organising your own fundraising events such as a coffee morning or sponsored walk. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas, so please contact us for more information.
We currently need volunteers to work in our shop in Alton. If you can give a few regular hours, or ideally a day in a week, please get in touch, call into one of our charity shop in Alton.
We need volunteer drivers from all areas who can pick up small casualties from their local area and bring them over to us, as we often get calls from people who have found a casualty but are unable to bring it to us. Unfortunately we do not have enough staff, vehicles or time to collect them all, and so volunteer drivers are an essential part of the service we offer. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver please complete the volunteer form via the link below.
